Why are my shoes squeaking?
We can understand how a squeaky shoe could distract from a great run.
Oftentimes, the cause of squeaky shoes can be a combination of an insole or orthotic within your shoe. To test this, we recommend removing the insole or orthotic and taking a few steps. If the squeak disappears, we can assume this is a result of the insole or orthotic sinking into the topsole foam inside of the shoe and moving slightly with every step - the friction from this movement is what can cause a squeak.
To alleviate this, we recommend putting Painter's or Masking tape on the bottom of your insole or orthotic, with the smooth side touching the topsole. Taping the bottom of your insole or orthotic creates a smooth surface and decreases any friction that occurs while you walk or run.
