Finding the right fit for your feet is essential to ensuring you’re prepared for your next run, walk, or workout. In addition to the length of your shoes (we recommend sizing so that you have approximately 1/2" to 1" – about a thumbnail's width – of space from your longest toe to the end of the shoe), finding the proper width to best accommodate your feet can make or break the comfort of your shoes.
We offer four widths in our lineup – narrow, medium, wide, and extra-wide, as depicted below for women’s and men’s sizing:
Narrow | Medium | Wide | Extra-wide | |
Women’s | 2A | B | D | 2E |
Men’s | B | D | 2E | 4E |

Let’s dive into the differences between widths. Medium is also known as standard width, and if you’ve never questioned which width is right for you before, you’ve likely been wearing medium-width shoes. Narrow, medium, and wide shoes within the same model are built on the same size footbed. The difference comes in the amount of upper material used, and therefore volume, present in the shoe. A narrow-width shoe will have less upper material and a snugger fit relative to a medium-width shoe, while a wide-width shoe will have more upper material and a roomier fit relative to a medium-width shoe. An extra-wide-width shoe will have both a wider footbed and more upper material, resulting in the roomiest fit of all our widths.
Converting between women’s and men’s sizing
In general, we recommend referring to the width naming as opposed to the lettering when converting between women’s and men’s sizing. Length conversion is adding 1.5 sizes when going from men’s to women’s or subtracting 1.5 sizes when going from women’s to men’s. For example, if you wear a women’s 10.0 wide (D), you would wear a men’s 8.5 wide (2E).
A note about color selection in specialty widths
While we would love to be able to produce all colors in all widths across our brand, our shoes are produced on a large scale and the current manufacturing process limits how many colors in widths we're able to produce. Because neutral colors are our highest-selling colors across the board, these are typically what you will see in specialty widths.
A note about exact measurements of our shoes
We do not offer exact measurements for the dimensions of our footwear, as it is difficult to communicate that information in a way that is helpful. Measurements by themselves cannot take into account things like foot shape, individual biomechanics, personal preferences, and design intention. Some of our shoes are designed to have a snugger fit, while others are designed to be more spacious even if the footbed of the shoe measures the same.
Finding your width
We recommend visiting a local run specialty shop to find your best fit. Some shops even offer foot-scanning technology to find your suggested size and width. You can find a shop near you using our Store Locator.
Can’t visit a store? We have you covered with our Run Happy Promise - a promise that you'll love your gear, and if you don't we will take it back for up to 90 days after purchase. Run in it, sweat in it, inside, outside, in the rain - if it doesn't fit or perform the way it should, send it back.
